Third Narnia film gets go ahead

It looks like fans of the Chronicles of Narnia will indeed be seeing a third film on cinema screens.

Variety reports that 20th Century Fox have stepped in to co-finance the third movie - The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader with Walden Media after Disney pulled out.

Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley will reprise their roles as Prince Caspian, Edmund and Lucy in the film with Will Poulter playing newcomer Eustace Clarence Scrubb.

Directed by Brit Michael Apted, it is hoped the film will be shot at the end of the summer in Australia for a 2010 release.

The previous Narnia film Prince Caspian made $419 million at the worldwide box office.

Brilliant films.

Shame they couldn't do all of them really & in the right order!!!!

Voyage of the Dawn Tredger is a brilliant book.

I've seen the first Film and Loved It.

I am more of a Harry Potter fan though.

they have done them in the right order they have just missed out the first book which was published way after the lion the witch and the wardrobe anyway and missed out the horse and his boy.  which was a story written when the children where supposedly in Narnia the first time.

In my book that means there not filming them in the right order.  But hey ho lets not be picky

I loved the first book it's tells you how the wardrobe is built and the whole witch story too.  It would make a great film too.

No as that book was written after the lion the witch and the wardrobe I think it was actually the third book in the series and is actually my least favourite of all the books.  Although it does give you an insight into the professor in the book and how he know Lucy was telling the truth

fair enough.  just wondered in the book collection that I brought why is THe Magicians Nephew number 1 & Lion which & wardrobe number 2.  It's a mystery.  Do you know? I'm interested.

Because I'm interested in whether the book collection I brought is wrong, I have read the inside cover of one of the books. It seems that the Lion Witch & Wardrobe was written first but that the order of the whole chronicles is:

The Magicians Nephew
THe Lion the Witch & the Wardrobe
The Horse and His Boy
Prince Caspian
THe Voyage of the Dawn Tredger
The Silver Chair
THe Last Battle.

It's too confusing for me   I'm going to google this & see what I find.
I hate the fact that the information in the books my be wrong.  I wonder if that is the publishers preference or the writer's?

Actually I just googled this.  It's amazing what you learn.

It seems that we are both right

The original order of the books was:

THe Lion the witch & the wardrobe
Prince Caspian
Voyage of the Dawn Tredger
The Silver Chair
The Horse and His Boy
Magicians Nephew
The Last Battle.

Apparently when the books were republished in 1994 the order was changed to how they chronilogically happen.  That being why I have a different order.  So now the correct order for now is the way I have them.

Here is a quote from the author which I found fascinating.

Lewis gave qualified approval to the chronological arrangement in a letter to Laurence Krieg, 23 April 1957: "I think I agree with your order for reading the books [chronologically according to events] more than with your mother's [in order of publication]. . . . [But] perhaps it does not matter very much in which order anyone reads them" (C. S. Lewis:

So it seems it doesn't really matter.

But personally I like reading them in the chronilogical order.

Although some critics say it is better read in the original order as then the Magicians Nephew would be more of a flashback.

SO it seems the films are in the order of how they were originally published with the Horse & the Boy being left out as it didn't happen in Narnia (I think)

I hope you found that interesting.  I know I did.  You learn something everyday.  It's a shame the books I have don't explain that.
