Kiefer on Monster roleKiefer Sutherland has spoken of his awe at the 3-D animation used in Monsters vs Aliens.
The 24 star lent his voice to grizzled soldier General W R Monger and said his cartoon self "looks fantastic".
The Dreamworks movie is the first computer-animated film to be directly produced in a stereoscopic 3-D format instead of being converted into 3-D.
Sutherland said the technical breakthrough makes you think you are inside the action as meteors, monsters and extra-terrestrials come flying off the screen.
He said: "I remember looking over my shoulder, and I knew it was coming.
"So when I think of the sense of awe of a five-year-old or a seven-year-old maybe seeing a movie for the first time - what they are going to sense is just amazing."
