Katie Price and Peter Andre to split.Reality TV stars Katie Price and Peter Andre, whose relationship began when they were contestants on I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!, are to separate.
A spokesman for the couple confirmed today that they were separating after four and a half years of marriage.
Price, a former Page 3 model, and Andre, who enjoyed chart success as a singer in the 1990s, began a relationship after being contestants on 2004's I'm A Celebrity and were married the following year.
Since that time the pair have generated an enormous volume of publicity, including their ITV2 shows When Jordan Met Peter, Jordan & Peter: Laid Bare, Jordan & Peter: Marriage Mayhem?, Katie & Peter: The Baby Diaries and Katie & Peter: The Next Chapter.
Their latest ITV2 reality TV show, Katie & Peter: Stateside, is currently attracting more than 1 million viewers on Thursday nights.
Formerly known as Page 3 girl Jordan, the first volume of Price's memoirs, Being Jordan, sold more than 1m copies. The third volume of her memoirs, Jordan: Pushed to the Limit, was published last year.
The statement from the couple's management company, Can Associates Limited, said: "Peter Andre and Katie Price are separating after four-and-a-half years of marriage.... They have both requested that the media respect their families' privacy at this difficult time."
The news brings down the curtain on the union, which had been sold as a fairy tale romance by their publicists.
When the pair were married at Highclere Castle in Berkshire, family seat of the Earl of Carnarvon, Price turned up in a in a pink Cinderella-style carriage pulled by six white horses.
Exclusive photo rights to the wedding, where guests included former Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona and ex-EastEnders actor Dean Gaffney, were sold for a reported £1.75m to OK! magazine.
Price, who was number 83 in last year's MediaGuardian 100 list of the most powerful UK media players, has maintained a high profile through a number of means including children's books, teenage novels and also her own brand of perfume.
Last year the pair accepted substantial damages and a public apology from the News of the World after the paper falsely claimed they were uncaring parents.
In 2007, Price withdrew her complaint about a Heat sticker mocking her disabled son Harvey after the magazine apologised and made a donation to charity.
As well as Harvey, whose father is the footballer Dwight Yorke, Price and Andre have two children, Princess Tiaamii and Junior.

It's very sad, but it doesnt really surprise me to be honest, they appear to bicker more than anything else, although that could be just for the cameras! AGain though, it's the kids who will suffer!

Price 'devastated' at Andre split
Katie Price has said that her split from Peter Andre was "not what I want" but the decision was out of her hands.
Katie Price and husband Peter Andre have announced they are to separate The model said she was "devastated" by her husband's decision to divorce her but she would always love him.
Price, whose separation from the Australian singer was announced on Monday, said in a statement: "Pete is the love of my life and my life."
She continued: "We have children together and I am devastated and disappointed by his decision to separate and divorce me, as I married him for life. This is not what I want and the decision has been taken out of my hands.
"I will not comment further or do any interviews regarding the separation but I will always love my Pete."
Her spokeswoman said Price has left the country with Junior and Princess, her children with Andre. Her eldest child Harvey, from a previous relationship, is being looked after by a nanny at home.
The spokeswoman would not disclose Price's destination.
The couple have been married for three-and-a-half years and found romance on the reality TV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!.
Their separation was announced in a joint statement which made no mention of plans to divorce.
The couple are known for their blazing rows, which have often been caught on camera for their ITV fly-on-the-wall shows.

I hope they reconcile.
