Does anyone else watch River City on BBC Scotland and what do you think of the storylines.

If you want to take a peek at it then it's on every Tuesday 8pm-9pm.

Here's a link to the website which contains present and past storylines.

Update on what's happen in River City this past week.

A couple of scary looking men in balaclavas robbed a jewellery store and made away with a nice haul of diamonds! Little did we know that it was Ewan and Archie and it was just the start of their plan to get back at Lenny. Ewan was clearly uncomfortable with the whole set-up but his whole reason for coming to Shieldinch was to wreak revenge upon his dad for leaving him years ago. His mum, Mary, was obviously the mastermind behind it all.

Ewan allowed Lenny to think he needed money badly in order to buy some of the stolen diamonds. Lenny got his cronies together to chip in and were sure they'd make a killing. Archie was the seller's agent but the deal was too good for Murdoch to pass by. He bought up the diamonds and found the perfect way of getting rid of them.

He pretended to be a lovely, kind citizen and paid for a group of kids to go on a trip to Paris - the poor kids and their grateful priest didn't have a clue that they were actually taking diamonds abroad to swap for drugs! Even the Mullens got in on the charitable act and helped raise cash for the trip.

When the bus and its illegal cargo returned, Lenny went to pick up his booty but before he could reap his rewards, he was hit over the head by a masked man! And that masked man was Archie Buchanan. Just what have the schemers got planned?

In other news, Raymond tried to convince the Murdochs to give him a job at the pub but to no avail. And Joanne was gutted when her mum had a go at her about her fake pregnancy. Jo tried to do the right thing and told Ewan the truth but he was disgusted with her and threw her out! She ended up sobbing in her mum's arms.

Three new faces will arrive in Shieldinch on Tuesday, 30 December, just in time for an explosive Hogmanay storyline! Ewan Stewart (from Rob Roy, Titanic, Looking After Jo Jo.) will join the show as Daniel McKee, his wife Marianne will be played by Frances Grey (Messiah, The Key, Vanity Fair.) and her best friend Sammi is Samia Rida (Messages, The Basement.) Sammi's fiancé Ben will join them but, well, you won't see him for very long.

Thank you Shar

UPDATE

With Lenny gagged and bound in the Tall Ship, Mary stopped at nothing to get the information about his drugs deal. Ewan, meanwhile, felt really uncomfortable and just wanted Lenny to give them what they needed so they could skip town as soon as possible. Lenny, however, had no intention of helping either of them out!

Frustrated, Ewan said his farewells to his family. Amber and Rory were touched by his sentimentality although Rory was slightly suspicious. Lydia became increasingly concerned for Lenny's whereabouts but Ewan lied and said he had no idea where Lenny was.

With Versus and the Tall Ship closed, Deek tried to encourage Bob to leave Shieldinch to go drinking in the West End but Bob wasn't so keen. Instead, Deek brought homemade cocktails and some 'borrowed' furniture from the beer garden to Shieldinch. Iona launched a mission to raise Raymond's spirits but when her attempts don't go too well they got drunk! Their day ended with a cheeky snog witnessed by Shona who then chucked Raymond out.

Back at the pub, Ewan was shocked to walk in on Mary and Archie in a compromising situation. Realising that Ewan is upset, Lenny jumped on the opportunity to bad-mouth Mary and tried to convince Ewan to side with him. Mary laid into Lenny and Ewan's mind was fit to burst.

When Lenny's buyer called, Ewan set up a meeting between the caller and Archie. When Archie left, Lenny turned on Mary. She flipped and left Lenny begging Ewan that there was still time to stop everything.

Mary went to the the Murdoch home and lorded it over Lydia and Amber but things took a sinister twist when she ended up holding them hostage. Lydia and Mary fought but Mary got the upper hand when she found a knife. Rory, thankfully, arrived in time to break them up and told Mary that he would never forgive her for what she's done.

Mary returned to the pub unnerved but even more determined to bring Lenny down, and was delighted when Archie turned up with the cash. With the money evenly split between Ewan, Mary and Archie, Ewan just wanted to run away but Mary wanted Lenny dead.

Archie couldn't go through with shooting Lenny and, instead, ran off leaving his gun in the pub. Ewan and Mary scuffled for the gun and in the ensuing chaos Lenny escaped. Ewan chased Lenny through Shieldinch (just like in Ewan's earlier dream) until finally they stopped face to face. Ewan raised the gun but didn't shoot. Lenny hit Ewan.

The pair returned to the Murdoch home but as a contrast to this welcoming family reunion, Lenny sent a man to kill Archie. The same man also tracked down Mary will she get out of this alive?

Update from Tuesday, 23 December

Raymond was in the depths of despair and decided there was only one thing to do. As he prepared to kill himself, his car exhaust fell off and he became even more annoyed. He couldn't even do that properly!

He tried to make amends with Jimmy and Shona but neither had any time for him. Despondent, he went to the pub and ended up arguing with Eileen before trying to make a quick exit. Just as he was leaving, he collided with a door and went out cold...

In a haze, he woke up to find Roisin standing over him! Understandably confused, he discovered she was here to show him what Shieldinch would be like without him.

He didn't believe her until he realised that nobody knew who he was, and everyone had very different lives to the ones we're familiar with.

Bob and Deek had become uber-neds, running a cut and shunt shop, selling dodgy motors. Neither were impressed by Raymond, and Bob kneed him in the groin!

Shona was living in a caravan with a brood of ginger children by Tony. She was working all hours to make ends meet and had just taken a job in a massage parlour. A neddy Nicki was the kids' babysitter and Iona was living with Tony until Raymond arrived and accidentally broke up their relationship!

Eileen was dowdy and had no trace of the feistiness we're used to, and Shirley was down on her luck. Jo, however, was living the high life as a reality TV star... albeit labelled 'Britain's worst mum'.

The Tall Ship had long since closed down. Scarlett was living a lonely life with Madonna, after Jimmy's death when a drug run went wrong. And, worst of all, Raymond discovered that Alanna was still living with her abusive stepfather.

Raymond tried to talk to everyone in an attempt to help but it all backfired. He did save one of Shona's kids from being knocked down and he became determined to get back together with Shona. Roisin couldn't let it happen because, after all, he didn't exist in this world.

McLaverty ruled the roost and was seriously unimpressed to find this newcomer getting in folks' way. He, Deek, Bob, Nicki and Tony started to threaten him. Raymond stood his ground when faced with this angry mob and he realised he had indeed made a difference to his friends' lives.

McLaverty punched his lights out but this time when Raymond woke up he was back to reality.

Faced with a new enthusiasm for life, he convinced Ewan to give Scarlett and Jimmy jobs in the pub, told Eileen to invest in a taxi business for Jimmy, advised Nicki to call Zoe, and told Shona he loved her!

He put a smile on everyone's faces and sealed his happiness with a kiss from his love, Shona.

Update from Tuesday, 30th December

Some new arrivals turned up in Shieldinch and got everybody's attention pretty quickly.

Daniel and Marianne McKee moved into a flat near Malcolm and Liz, helped by best friend Sammi and her boyfriend Ben.

Daniel and Ben immediately won friends when they helped Ewan with some drinks deliveries, and Sammi and Marianne got involved in a stint of bar work! Unfortunately, not everyone was pleased to see them. Malcolm was shaken to spot Daniel McKee and Lenny riled his old acquaintance.

It transpired that Daniel used to be a legendary criminal, his terrorism culminating in killing a man with his bare hands. His reputation went before him but a jail term in Barlinnie had released a new man.

He'd married his psychiatrist, Marianne, and returned to Shieldinch to set up a base to help young offenders.

Unfortunately, few were convinced by this change in personality and he quickly found himself in a sticky situation when it looked like he'd broken into the surgery. The police were involved but Marianne corroborated his story that she's taken over the surgery and he was helping her get it ready.

Daniel bumped into Lydia, who appears to be an old flame! Lenny was unimpressed by Daniel's transformation and connection with his wife.

Meanwhile, Nicki and Amber had only a few hours to go to keep their 2008 resolutions and set about doing good deeds, helping Shirley and Viv, and Bob and Deek. They learned that total honesty isn't always the best policy with each other and discretion is sometimes called for!

As everyone set about planning Hogmanay celebrations, Ewan was floundering with The Tall Ship. Lenny took every opportunity to put him down and excluded him from all of his business. Some of it was rather unsavoury - he'd somehow acquired Mary's mobile phone and was annoyed to see Ewan trying to call his mum. Ewan hasn't a clue that his dad was involved in Mary's disappearance.

The Hogmanay party soon came together, with Scarlett firmly behind the bar. The Murdochs celebrated in the pub and, back in the McKees' home, Ben proposed to a delighted Sammi!

Later, when Marianne and Ben had fallen asleep, Sammi and Daniel decided to visit his new business venture while Ewan was busy cleaning the pub. Lenny had made it clear that was all he was good for.

Done in, Ewan finished his task and picked up Amber to give her a lift home. In his rush he failed to see Ben, out looking for Sammi. The car hit him violently. Ewan made a hysterical Amber drive the car home and get Lenny's help, while he stayed with Ben. Ewan was left, shouting for help as he cradled a lifeless Ben...

Update from Tuesday,06th Januray 2009

Everyone in Shieldinch was reeling from the news that Ben had died in the hit and run accident. Sammi was distraught and being comforted by Marianne and Daniel.

Lenny was furious with Ewan for involving Amber in the cover-up of Ben's death but Ewan was suffering plenty. He was having nightmares and was convinced he was being haunted by Ben. He tried to call his mum but couldn't get through - unsurprising considering Lenny had 'acquired' Mary's mobile.

An unsuspecting Daniel thanked Ewan for comforting Ben as he died - that just left Ewan feeling worse. Lenny was determined to sort his son out and forced him back into the car that had been quickly repaired, no questions asked...

Ewan felt awful when Sammi turned up in the pub, desperate for answers about her lover's death. Worse than that, Sammi ends up with him in his car when Ewan is sure that Ben's ghost is watching over them.

Jo convinced Gina to let her keep the café open at night so the Night Oyster was born and she prepared for opening night.

Jimmy worried about the taxi business going badly so Scarlett donned her thinking cap and came up with a brainwave for The Tall Ship. A Country & Western night would bring punters to the pub and give Jimmy some fares! It looked like it was all going to plan until a scary looking psychic turned up. Maris reckoned she'd been booked by Sharon to run a pyschic evening. After some to'ing and fro'ing, the band headed to the Night Oyster to kick off some joyous line dancing, and Maris put on a show and a half.

Everyone was astounded by her spooky abilities - how could she possibly be channelling Malcolm's late wife and know about Scarlett's family jailbirds? More importantly, how did she know Ewan's being haunted by a spirit? Happily, she told him that the man was ready to go and he should stop worrying. Ewan seemed to calm down after that.

At the end of the night we discovered that Maris is an old pal of Lenny's and he'd helped her with insider knowledge! But even he was a little bit spooked by her unworldly wisdom...
